A digital shaman’s daily practice using only spiritual apps

Dear Google,

My website is the 4th hit on the topic of digital divination (at the time of writing) and other random searches of spiritual apps, digital tarot cards and everything in between is sorely lacking results. I’m shocked because are we not here in the dawn of the Age of Aquarius?? Always debatable but we can’t deny the fact that we are living in an information technology era that is modernizing other sectors of society. Looking across others industries like automobiles (see Teslas), financial (see cryptocurrency) yet under the umbrella of spirituality its seems a bit taboo to be using spiritual apps and digital tarot and oracle decks. Spirituality isn’t just a niche hippy-woo anymore thing its been proven a true service industry

“The psychic services industry,” MarketWatch reports, “which includes astrology, aura reading, mediumship, tarot-card reading and palmistry, among other metaphysical services — grew two percent between 2011 and 2016. It is now worth $2 billion annually.”

We are living in times where EVERYTHING is being disrupted — taxies nope, call an uber — rent a dvd — nope you need a NETFLIX Account. I mention these because the next leap in spiritual evolution will be creating a lane for apps and services.

What is Digital Divination? Infusing spirituality with Technology

The practice of using apps, computers, mobile devices, software & automation to enhance your readings and spiritual practices

I’m going on record here as a leading voice for shaping and discussing “Digital Divination”. I’m here to challenge core beliefs of how existing divination modalities (e.g Tarot, Astrology, Chakra healing, Numerology etc) function and encourage our personal practices to morph right along with the other aspects of our daily lives that have changed due to technology. I’m not here to disrespect or delete the ancient and proven methods but rather to showcase using spiritual technology as blended approach or solely paper-less. Don’t throw away your notebooks and physical paper products, let digital divination serve to be an integration process of infusing the old and new ways of conducting sacred arts.

Coincidentally one of my other hobbies is personal productivity and within that community they often have the same debate of analog tools vs digital. Ultimately its always a personal decision but here on this blog and YouTube channel, I’m here to promote more awareness of digital divination.

💡How do I use digital divination in my daily life?

Before I showcase the apps that support my own practice it starts with visual reminders on my iPhone via my spiritual widgets.

🔖Widgets Pictured
(Top to Bottom):
Tarot and Numerology App
Small Widgets Left — Aura Meditation App Right — Law of Attraction Toolbox
Bottom Widget — Insight Timer Meditation App

These widgets serve as shortcuts to the apps and provide information at my finger tips that boost my spiritual practice. The two meditation widgets shows my consecutive usage streak (gamification) and offer a random meditation that changes daily. The LOA app provides a daily affirmation and the top widget shows my daily draw Tarot card, current Phase of the moon and Astrological Sun/Moon sign

🔸Practice — Daily Tarot Card pull

At the start of the week on Mondays, I use the app Tarot and Numerology to create my weekly forecast (the app pulls 7 cards for each the day of the week). Each day I get an alert that indicates my ‘daily tarot card of the day’ and my personal numerology forecast. This app is pretty complex but I’ve been using it for years and my favorite feature is the data trend it has built on me based on all the cards I’ve pulled through the years. It keeps a count of the cards that I have picked and I now have personal tarot trends of my cards. We all have had the feeling of when a tarot card is ‘stalking you’ but for me having the data to back up this notion helps validate my usage of technology to supplement my practice.

🔸 Practice — Astrology Transits -my energy forecast each day aka spiritual weather report

I grab my daily horoscope and current astrology transits and check to see what sign the moon is located. I can do all of these checks by using one of the iOS App Store premier professional, astrology app Time Passages it has a higher cost of $30 for the full version but its well worth it for any astrology buff.

Note: They do have a free version for basics but they charge for reports and unlocking certain features. Its competitors Astro Gold (Cost $39.99) is quality alternative app for the cost of professional grade software.

Screen 2/3 — Time Passages shows you daily transits (via horoscope feature) — it can predict more detailed long and short term transits, maps current planetary transit movement on chart/wheel based on the time/date selected

Screen 4- You can click on each individual transit and get a short description of its meaning

🔶Moon cycle planning via Full Moon Phase App

Screen 4-Visual and brief summary of all data points listed above for the moon

🔸 Spiritual Practice — Meditation and Manifestation Writing

I complete my traditional TCM silent meditation and log my time via Insight timer. Afterwards I will often listen to a few affirmations or guided meditations using a suite of my favorite mindfulness apps.

My morning routine has always been a cherished part of my day but now that I have even more time to devote to my practices, given the fact I’m still under work from home orders. One of my personal goals is to study manifestation and the law of attraction therefore I practice by using the Law of Attraction Toolbox AppThis app is great for writing and rehearsing scripts, playing around with windfalls of money and other tactics based on principles from Ester Hicks LOA books. I also write daily journal entries on what is that I wish to attract. Although I use my day one journal app this can be done with apple notes or any plain paper notebook.

🔸 Spiritual Practice — Daily Devotional Reading & Chakra Sound Healing

I’m a big fan of solfeggio tones and music so sometimes while reading my daily devotions (via Kindle/Kindle App) I’ll listen tones via the Chakras Meditation app. I work on a different chakra each day for 30 mins or so — best to listen via headphones.

I recycle through a bunch of different themed devotional books; as you can see from Stocism to Angels. Sometimes I read a different passage from a different book each day or I may feel inspired to read from the same grouping of books for XX time period.

🔚For some starting their day on the phone could bring distraction, but for others they may feel inspired to incorporate a few apps into their daily habits. I’ve drawn a parallel to the peace and focus gained from my silent mantra based mediation to adding apps primarily in the morning. I want to cultivate my energy with my tools and that means avoiding co-tangling myself Social Media for me that’s Twitter,IG or YouTube until after I’m finished going through the flow of apps discussed above. Avoiding temptation is secondary but welcome benefit to digital divination goals. My practice is portable it only requires me and my iPad to begin my day. My practice lends to technical data driven insights — am I keeping up with meditation and devotion — lets verify via app streaks and not rely off ‘human memory’. I hope by sharing — you will consider adding an app or two to your lifestyle.
